چکیده
In Situ Cartilage Repair article 2201588 by Xiong Shu, Sujun Wu, Juan Guan, and co-workers, a cell-free silk protein sponge is fitted on site of cartilage defect. The in situ repair assisted programmed factors E7 TGF-β1, that trigger serial events autologous stem cell homing, directed differentiation chondrocyte proliferation.

Non-mulberry Silk Fibroin Biomaterial for Corneal Regeneration
PURPOSE Successful repair of a damaged corneal surface is a great challenge and may require the use of a scaffold that supports cell growth and differentiation. Amniotic membrane is currently used for this purpose, in spite of its limitations. A thin transparent silk fibroin film from non-mulberry Antheraea mylitta (Am) has been developed which offers to be a promising alternative. The silk sca...
متن کاملDecellularized Cartilage as a Bioactive Biomaterial for Cartilage Tissue Engineering
Cartilage matrix is a particularly promising acellular material for cartilage regeneration given the evidence supporting its chondroinductive character. The ‘raw materials’ of cartilage matrix can serve as building blocks and signals for enhanced tissue regeneration. These matrices can be created by chemical or physical methods: physical methods disrupt cellular membranes and nuclei but may not...
متن کاملNonmulberry Silk Fibroin Scaffold Shows Superior Osteoconductivity Than Mulberry Silk Fibroin in Calvarial Bone Regeneration.
Recent years have witnessed the advancement of silk biomaterials in bone tissue engineering, although clinical application of the same is still in its infancy. In this study, the potential of pure nonmulberry Antheraea mylitta (Am) fibroin scaffold, without preloading with bone precursor cells, to repair calvarial bone defect in a rat model is explored and compared with its mulberry counterpart...
متن کاملSilk fibroin as biomaterial for bone tissue engineering.
UNLABELLED Silk fibroin (SF) is a fibrous protein which is produced mainly by silkworms and spiders. Its unique mechanical properties, tunable biodegradation rate and the ability to support the differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells along the osteogenic lineage, have made SF a favorable scaffold material for bone tissue engineering. SF can be processed into various scaffold forms, combined s...
متن کاملSilk-based delivery systems of bioactive molecules.
Silks are biodegradable, biocompatible, self-assembling proteins that can also be tailored via genetic engineering to contain specific chemical features, offering utility for drug and gene delivery. Silkworm silk has been used in biomedical sutures for decades and has recently achieved Food and Drug Administration approval for expanded biomaterials device utility. With the diversity and control...
